Journey through the Bible

Hillcrest is on a Journey through the Bible together. Beginning in February 2011, we will be partnering with Seattle Pacific University’s “Lectio” series on the book of Matthew. Through the next 4 years we plan to journey through much of the Bible together, reading a section of Scripture each week, along with a reading guide by one of SPU’s Theology professors. During Sunday morning worship, we will focus on a section of text through preaching and discussion time. Are you interested in knowing and understanding your Bible better? Want to know what Jesus was all about? Come join us on this journey through the Bible.

When individuals or groups operate from the understanding that they are special or important, they soon begin to believe it and act accordingly. Immediate examples in our culture are those who experience fame and celebrity. As soon as the media hype reaches a frenzied pitch, the “glamour girls” or the “go-to guys” on the team [...]

Gospel for Jews and Gentiles

Romans first

Romans 1:1–2:16 When one begins reading Romans, one notices stylistic idiosyncrasies right away. For instance, Paul likes long sentences; really long sentences. (Believe it or not, they tend to be longer than the sentences by this author!) Paul also breaks from conventional epistle or letter protocols in the opening verses of Romans.  Full Reading
